Deep Space — Astronomers at NASA announced this week the discovery of a rogue planet that appears to exist for one reason only: to argue with anything you believe.
Officially designated Contraria-7, the planet emits a steady stream of radio waves containing sarcastic rebuttals to human statements, ranging from “Actually…” to “Well technically…”
“It told us gravity was a hoax and then denied saying it five minutes later,” said Dr. Melissa Yang, who led the research team. “It’s like Reddit, but with its own orbit.”
Contraria-7 reportedly maintains a perfect 1:1 contradiction ratio, disagreeing with both sides of debates simultaneously. It’s already been banned from several interstellar group chats.
Attempts to communicate with the planet using logical arguments have failed. “We sent it a message explaining the scientific method,” said Yang. “It responded with a meme of a cat wearing a tinfoil hat and the phrase ‘Do your own research.’”
The planet is now being considered for diplomatic negotiations, customer service training simulations, and reality TV development.
